Paul Pogba reveals contact with Man United player throughout Juventus days

Paul Pogba reveals that he kept in constant contact with Jesse Lingard during his time away from Manchester United

Paul Pogba has revealed that he kept in constant contact with Jesse Lingard following his transfer away from Manchester United in 2012.

The pair were both part of United’s youth set-up at Old Trafford before Pogba ended up leaving the club to move to the Serie A outfit four summers ago.

Pogba finally returned to United on Tuesday after signing a five-year contract and completing his big-money deal to move back to Old Trafford.

And the 23-year-old France international has revealed his delight at linking up with Lingard once again as the pair prepare for their first season together under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

Speaking in an interview with United’s website, Pogba said: “Always we kept talking – I’ve just kept in touch with him [Lingard].

“I’m very happy for him and what he’s doing, very proud of him, because he just keeps it up.

“I know he went on loan, he came back, he went on loan again, but it was just Jesse Lingard scoring goals, as always. So I’m very happy for him.

“I see Sam Johnstone too, and Will Keane and some other players who went away. We just keep in touch and I’m very happy for them.”

It remains to be seen whether Pogba will be involved in Manchester United’s first game of the Premier League season, when the Red Devils travel to Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

United finished fifth and won the FA Cup last term under Louis van Gaal.
