Phil Jones rates Man United’s transfer business under Jose Mourinho
Phil Jones discusses the impact Jose Mourinho has had at Manchester United this summer
Phil Jones has given his nod of approval to Manchester United’s dealings in the summer transfer window.
Jose Mourinho has moved quickly to bolster his squad at Old Trafford with three new signings following his appointment as the club’s new manager back in May.
Mourinho has signed defender Eric Bailly, striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan as the Red Devils prepare for their first season under the Portuguese coach.
Jones has been getting his first taste of working under the former Chelsea boss in recent weeks – and the defender admits that he has been impressed by what he has seen so far as United gear up for their Community Shield clash against Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking in an interview with MUTV, Jones said: “I think we have signed very well in the market.
“The new manager has come in and stamped his authority on the squad already. Hopefully, we’ll keep pushing forward and moving in the right direction.
“We’re getting fitter game by game. We’ve still got to improve in some areas we’ve been working on but I’m sure we’ll be there or thereabouts come the start of the season.
“It’s always difficult to get back into rhythm in the first games, with the changes in personnel, but it’s nice to be back.”
United finished fifth and won the FA Cup under Louis van Gaal last season as they missed out on qualification for the Champions League.
