Juan Mata is looking forward to being reunited with the Old Trafford supporters ahead of Friday night’s clash between Manchester United and Southampton.

The Spain international has faced a summer of uncertainty following Jose Mourinho’s appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor in May.

However, Mata was handed a starting spot for United’s trip to Bournemouth in the opening weekend of the new Premier League season on Sunday.

And the former Chelsea forward rewarded his manager’s faith with United’s opening goal in a 3-1 victory over Eddie Howe’s side at Vitality Stadium.

Enhanced odds: Get 4/1 on Man Utd to beat Southampton

Unsurprisingly, Mata is looking forward to having the opportunity to build on his positive start to the season ahead of United’s clash against Southampton at Old Trafford on Friday night.

Mata posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:

“See you tomorrow! 😉 #OldTrafford #MUFC 🔴”

The Spanish midfielder moved to United in a £37.1m deal from Chelsea after Mourinho had deemed the playmaker surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

United are bidding to win their first Premier League title since 2013.
