Juan Mata dedicated his first goal of the season to Ander Herrera after Manchester United were 3-1 winners at Bournemouth in their Premier League opener on Sunday.

The Spain international broke the deadlock in the first half after the 28-year-old managed to capitalise on a mistake in the Bournemouth defence.

United went on to secure three points thanks to goals from United captain Wayne Rooney and summer signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Vitality Stadium.

The 3-1 victory leaves Jose Mourinho’s side at the top of the Premier League table after one game as United look to win their first title since 2013.

However, the ex-Chelsea midfielder was more concerned with dedicating the three points to Herrera after the former Athletic Bilbao man turned 27 on Sunday.

Mata posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:

“Happy birthday @anderherrera!! I guess our 1st victory in the @premierleague is a good present 😉. Enjoy!! @manchesterunited”

United will host Southampton in their next Premier League fixture at Old Trafford on Friday night.
