Loris Karius says he is optimistic that he will be putting on his goalie gloves in the near future after the Liverpool signing returned to first-team training on Thursday afternoon.

The Germany Under-21 international broke his hand during Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat by Chelsea in the International Champions Cup in Pasadena in United States.

Karius was expected to be sidelined for up to two months as the 23-year-old shot stopper recovered from his injury setback.

However, the summer signing has already returned to training with Jurgen Klopp’s squad as he looks to keep his fitness ticking over before his hand heels.

Karius posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:

“Good to be back in training with the ⚽️ – I hope I can wear those gloves soon again! #LK1 #Melwood #LFC @liverpoolfc”

Liverpool were 4-3 winners against Arsenal in their Premier League opener thanks to goals from Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane.

The Reds will make the short trip to Burnley in their next top-flight game at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon.
