Bastian Schweinsteiger has taken to social media to confirm that he will not be involved in Manchester United’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

Jose Mourinho’s men are preparing for their first Premier League game under their new manager as the look to follow Manchester City’s lead and get their campaign off to a winning start.

Schweinsteiger does not appear to feature in Mourinho’s plans for the new season after he was left out of the squad that won the Community Shield at Wembley last weekend.

And the German World Cup winner appears to have confirmed to fans that he will not be involved in Sunday’s Premier League opener against Eddie Howe’s men on the south coast.

Schweinsteiger shared the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote: “Good luck for today’s Premier League start, guys!

“And happy birthday, @anderherrera. Have a great one.”

The German midfielder endured a disappointing first season at Old Trafford last term after being brought to the club from Bayern Munich by Louis van Gaal last summer.
