Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp puts his players through their paces on Friday afternoon
Marko Grujic and Georginio Wijnaldum battled under the watchful eye of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on Friday afternoon ahead of their pre-season friendly against Barcelona at Wembley.
The Reds manager has been very busy in the summer transfer window so far after recruiting seven new players for his Liverpool squad ahead of the 2016/17 Premier League season.
Grujic swapped Red Star Belgrade for Liverpool this summer after the 18-time English champions agreed a fee for the 20-year-old with the Serbian club earlier this year.
Netherlands midfielder Wijnaldum became Klopp’s second most-expensive signing of the summer at £25m, behind £30m striker Sadio Mane after the ex-PSV star moved to Liverpool in July.
And as direct rivals for a starting spot in Klopp’s side, midfielders Grujic and Wijnaldum didn’t appear to hold back in training at Melwood on Friday afternoon.
Liverpool will take on La Liga champions Barcelona in their final pre-season game at Wembley on Saturday evening.
