Ray Parlour names two strikers Arsene Wenger should sign for Arsenal
Ray Parlour wants Arsenal to target Alexandre Lacazette or Mauro Icardi before close of summer transfer window
Ray Parlour believes Alexandre Lacazzette or Mauro Icardi would be capable of transforming Arsenal into Premier League title contenders this season.
The Gunners have been linked with a host of potential signings in the summer transfer window but manager Arsene Wenger has only completed three deals thus far.
Granit Xhaka moved to Arsenal in a £33m deal from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach at the start of the summer before Japanese forward Takuma Asano and Bolton Wanderers defender Rob Holding sealed transfers to The Emirates last month.
Lyon striker Lacazzette has been touted as a potential target for the Gunners, while Icardi’s future at Inter Milan has been up in the air amid interest from Serie A and the Premier League.
And Parlour says Arsenal need a centre-forward like Lacazzette or Icardi if the Gunners are to challenge their title rivals this season.
“It would give them a much better chance [of winning the title],” Parlour told Sky Sports News HQ.
“They do have a good squad. They need a couple of more players. Lacazette has been mentioned. Icardi has been mentioned. They’re the quality you need.”
Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table last season, 10 points behind surprise champions Leicester City.
The Gunners haven’t won the English top-flight crown since 2004 when Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira led Arsenal to an unbeaten season.
