Ray Parlour: These are the two players Arsenal must sign
Ray Parlour wants Arsenal to sign Shkodran Mustafi and Alexandre Lacazette this summer
Ray Parlour has urged Arsene Wenger to splash the cash on bringing both Shkodran Mustafi and Alexandre Lacazette to Arsenal before the close of the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have been linked with a host of players throughout the summer but have thus far only signed midfielder Granit Xhaka, defender Rob Holding and striker Takuma Asano.
Arsenal are thought to be on the lookout for further reinforcements before the close of the transfer window at the end of the month.
Former Gunners midfielder Parlour believes that Arsenal are still in need of defensive and attacking reinforcements, and is urging Wenger to sign Mustafi and Lacazette before the window closes.
Speaking in an interview with Metro, Parlour said: “It’s very important that they get someone in in the centre-half position and they need a new forward.
“With the injuries they’ve got to Gabriel and [Per] Mertesacker, they look really light at the back.
“Mustafi is a decent player and he’ll strengthen it no doubt if he came.
“And as a forward, I like the look of Lacazette. There’s not that much about, though.
“The big, big players are playing for top teams already. For me, there are not many Sergio Aguero’s out there to buy but Lacazette would be a different option for Arsenal.
“[Mauro] Icardi is another one who has been mentioned and he’s a quality player.
“They’re the sort of players Arsenal need.”
Arsenal kick off their Premier League campaign with a home clash against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon as they prepare for their first game of the season.
The Gunners finished second in the top flight last term.
