Johanna Konta reflects on her impressive Rio 2016 Olympics campaign with Team GB
Johanna Konta has taken to social media to describe competing in the Rio 2016 Olympics as one of the best experiences of her life.
The British No1 lost 6-1 6-2 to former Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber in Rio at the quarter-final stage of the women’s singles event.
However, Konta was refusing to be downbeat about her exit from the tournament, as she posted the picture above on her personal Instagram account and wrote: “One of the best experiences of my life so far.
“So honoured to have represented my country at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. #teamgb #rio2016”
Meanwhile, Andy Murray is through to the men’s quarter-finals after battling to a 6-1 2-6 6-3 victory over Italian Fabio Fognini.
The British No1 will now face American Steve Johnson in the singles last eight on Friday.
Murray and Heather Watson also sealed a 6-3 6-3 win over Spain’s Carla Suarez Navarro and David Ferrer in the mixed doubles event.
