Rio Ferdinand makes bold prediction about Arsenal and Chelsea

Rio Ferdinand predicts the Premier League's top four this season

Rio Ferdinand believes Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool will battle it out for fourth place in the Premier League this season.

The Blues have appointed Antonio Conte as their new manager following the west London side’s dreadful defence of their top-flight crown last season.

Jurgen Klopp, meanwhile, is preparing for his first full Premier League campaign after the charismatic German replaced Brendan Rodgers at Anfield in October.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger continues his reign at the Emirates Stadium despite failing to win the Premier League title since 2004.

While Ferdinand believes Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will compete for the Premier League title, the retired England defender is tipping Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool to battle it out for the final spot.

“I reckon it [the title] is between Man United and Man City. Tottenham. And then it’s one of Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool,” Ferdinand told Metro.

“I think you can’t look past the two managers, very influential. Coming from two different places. Obviously someone like Jose [Mourinho], after the season he had at Chelsea, he’ll want to prove that was a one off.

“He’s come with a real focus and I think that’s dangerous for other teams. He’s got that hunger back in his system. With Pep, he is a proven, serial winner of titles wherever he’s been. It makes for a real good season.”

Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table last season ahead of City and United in the table.

Liverpool, meanwhile, were forced to settle for an eighth-place finish in the top-flight table.

Chelsea limped to tenth place following a dreadful defence of their Premier League crown.
