Riyad Mahrez to reject Arsenal and stay at Leicester – report
Riyad Mahrez won't force through a move to Arsenal, according to reports in the French media
Riyad Mahrez will reject Arsenal and stay at Leicester City this summer, according to reports in the French media.
France Football, as reported by The Sun, is claiming that the Algeria international isn’t interested in a big-money move to one of the Premier League’s giant clubs in the summer transfer window.
The same story claims that the Gunners were interested in signing the playmaker this summer as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new season.
The report also states that the reigning PFA players’ player of the year won’t put Leicester under pressure to sell him to the Gunners.
Mahrez’s Leicester team-mate Jamie Vardy opted to reject the chance to join Arsenal this summer after the Gunners submitted a £20m offer for the England international.
However, N’Golo Kante completed a £30m move to Leicester’s title rivals Chelsea last month after an outstanding season for Claudio Ranieri’s side in midfield.
Leicester will take on United in the Community Shield at Wembley on 7 August.
The Foxes won their first-ever Premier League crown last season after finishing 10 points ahead of Arsenal.
