Theo Walcott makes heartfelt vow to Arsenal fans
Theo Walcott is determined to help Arsenal turn their fortunes around next season...
Theo Walcott has admitted that he needs to step up his game for Arsenal next season as he bids to help the Gunners end their long wait for the Premier League title.
Walcott struggled for form last term as Arsene Wenger’s men ended up second in the Premier League table and 10 points behind surprise champions Leicester City.
The England international has come in for plenty of criticism for failing to produce consistent form during his 10 years with the Gunners.
Arsenal are looking to win their first Premier League title since the 2003-03 season under Wenger next term.
And Walcott is desperate to put the past behind him and help Arsenal be successful next season.
Speaking in an interview with Arsenal’s website, Walcott said: “[Last season is] gone and it’s in the past. I don’t need to worry about this anymore. If we dwell on the past then we’re not going to go anywhere.
“We’ve obviously got to look forward to the players coming in and we’ve got to do something differently this year. It’s a massive year for the club itself and we know what we need to do.
“Let’s be honest, we didn’t really perform [at our best last season], especially in the final run-in, but we still managed to finish second. We’ve got it in us so we’ve got to make sure that we’re at it every game now.”
Arsenal won the FA Cup in 2014 and 2015 but did not win a trophy last season as they struggled to maintain a Premier League title challenge.
Walcott joined Arsenal from Southampton in January 2006.
