Thierry Henry makes bold claim about Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Man United
Thierry Henry gives his take on Zlatan Ibrhaimovic and what he will bring to Manchester United
Thierry Henry is backing Zlatan Ibrahimovic to enjoy a very successful first season at Manchester United.
The Swedish striker announced himself to the Premier League by scoring in United’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth on the south coast as the Red Devils kicked off their top-flight campaign under Jose Mourinho with a convincing victory.
Ibrahimovic – who played alongside Henry at Barcelona – joined the Red Devils on a free transfer this summer after he left Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season.
And former Arsenal captain Henry was full of praise for the 34-year-old forward and the professional attitude he has shown in recent years.
Speaking on Sky Sports after United’s win at Bournemouth on Sunday, Henry said: “I like the way he plays now. He drops a lot more now, he has an eye for a pass. He will score a lot of goals for United.
“There is a lot of football left in him. People always want to hear about what he does or what he says, but he lives football – he respects the game, he loves the game. People don’t often say that.
“To be able to perform at that age and still do what he does, you have to live the right way – and he does it.”
Ibrahimovic will be hoping to be involved when United return to Premier League action against Southampton at Old Trafford on Friday night.
The Red Devils ended the first weekend of Premier League action top of the table after their win on the south coast under their new manager, with Liverpool close behind in second.
