Thierry Henry says Zlatan Ibrahimovic will provide a constant threat for Manchester United after Friday night’s 2-0 victory over Southampton.

The Swedish striker made the breakthrough in the 36th minute on his Old Trafford debut after the 34-year-old beat Jose Fonte in the air and guided a header past England goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

The former AC Milan and Juventus centre-forward scored his third Premier League goal of the season after Luke Shaw was fouled inside the area early in the second half.

Ibrahimovic was Jose Mourinho’s second signing of the summer after he completed a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in July.

Former Arsenal striker Henry believes Ibrahimovic will still be a success in the Premier League despite the striker admitting that the French league is easier.

Asked if United can expect more of the same from Ibrahimovic moving forward, Henry said to Sky Sports:

“That’s exactly what you can expect from him. He said it was easier in France. It doesn’t matter. He got more chances in France but he got more goals too.”

Henry added: “He might not be in the games at times but you will always have a chance to score with him. That’s what we saw tonight.”

The Red Devils were 3-1 winners against Bournemouth in their opening Premier League game of the season last weekend thanks to goals from Juan Mata, Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney.
