Thierry Henry’s blunt warning for Chelsea under Antonio Conte
Thierry Henry gives his take on new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte ahead of the new season
Thierry Henry believes that Antonio Conte can be a big success at Chelsea this season but has warned the Blues’ players that they must all step their game up under the Italian coach.
The Blues are currently gearing up for their first season under the former Juventus boss following his appointment as the club’s new manager earlier in the year.
Chelsea are now preparing for their first game of the Premier League season, when they host West Ham United at Stamford Bridge next Monday night.
Henry played alongside Conte during his spell at Juventus before joining Arsenal.
And the former Arsenal captain has given his thoughts on the newly-appointed Chelsea manager.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Monday morning, former Barcelona and Arsenal star Henry said: “All I can say is, they better be ready.
“He doesn’t mess around. If you don’t run – and that’s the strict minimum that you need to do for him – if you don’t run up and down and help each other, you’re not going to play. No matter if you have a big name or not. The team comes first.
“I think he can be a successful manager at Chelsea because the fans will embrace him.
“If you love to play for him, he will give you a lot. All of his teams have a unity factor that you could see.”
Chelsea finished 10th in the Premier League table last season after sacking Jose Mourinho back in December following a disastrous start to the new campaign.
