Thierry Henry says he is hopeful that Arsenal will manage to finish in the Premier League’s top four.

The Gunners made a disappointing start to the 2016/17 Premier League campaign last Sunday after 4-3 defeat by Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.

Theo Walcott had broken the deadlock for Arsene Wenger’s side before goals from Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane sealed a thrilling win for the visitors.

Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since 2004 but the north London side have managed to finish in the Champions League qualification spots every season since their last top-flight crown.

However, Wenger’s top-four rivals Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have made significant improvements to either coaching or playing staff over the summer transfer window.

But former Arsenal striker Henry, who was part of Arsenal’s most-recent title success, is still optimistic that the Gunners can maintain their top-four standards.

Asked if Arsenal would finish in the top four this season, Henry told Sky Sports:

“I hope. I say it every time I’m asked. I hope we’re going to win the league. I hope we’re going to finish in the top four.”

The Gunners signed three players in the summer transfer window, including £33m midfielder Granit Xhaka.
