Three left-backs Jurgen Klopp could sign for Liverpool
Three left-backs that Jurgen Klopp could target to ease Liverpool's growing defensive problems
Jurgen Klopp has been raiding Bundesliga for new players this summer. The Liverool manager has already signed Mainz goalkeeper Loris Karius, Augsburg’s Alex Manninger and Ragnar Klavan, as well as Schalke centre-half Joel Matip. Continuing the trend, the Reds boss has been linked with a swoop for Cologne defender Jonas Hector. The 26-year-old was part of Joachim Low’s Germany squad for Euro 2016. Given Klopp’s penchant for a Bundesliga player, signing Hector would make sense.
Another Bundesliga player, Ricardo Rodriguez, is rated as one of the best up and coming left-backs in Europe. The Switzerland international already has a wealth of experience which includes representing the national team at two major tournaments. The 23-year-old would be a good attacking option after the defender chipped in with two goals and three assists last season. However, the Wolfsburg star would command a sizeable transfer fee and Liverpool could face competition from some of Europe’s top clubs.
Matteo Di Sceglio
Like Rodriguez, Matteo Di Sceglio is 23. The AC Milan full-back came through the youth ranks at San Siro before making his first-team debut in 2011. The Italy international has racked up 104 appearances for the Rossaneri in five seasons so far. Di Sceglio has also represented the Azzurri on 26 occasions. Klopp had the chance to see the full-back at close quarters last weekend as Liverpool were 2-0 winners against Milan. The Italian left-back is a cheaper option that Hector and Rodriguez with his valuation thought to be in the region of £16m.
