Paul Merson believes Tottenham Hotspur will record their first Premier League win in five attempts when Crystal Palace make the trip to White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.

The Lilywhites finished in third place in the Premier League table last season after a four-game winless run to end the campaign allowed Leicester City to win the title and Arsenal to hoist themselves into runners-up spot.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side had to come from behind to rescue a point at Goodison Park on the opening weekend of the Premier League season after a 1-1 draw with Ronald Koeman’s new-look Everton outfit.

Tottenham’s opponents on Saturday are Palace as Alan Pardew looks to turnaround the Eagles’s fortunes after a miserable 2016 so far.

And former Arsenal midfielder Merson is confident that the north London side will get their much-needed win at White Hart Lane tomorrow afternoon.

“Spurs were disappointing in the first half against Everton, who should have been out of sight at half-time, but they improved after the break,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“Palace had a shocking result at home and it looks like they need a forward. Dwight Gayle has gone, Yannick Bolasie just went and they fired blanks against West Brom so it’s a bit of a strange one.”

Tottenham signed two players in the summer transfer window as Pochettino looks to improve on last season’s third-place finish.
