Mark Lawrenson is backing Tottenham Hotspur to beat Crystal Palace even without captain Hugo Lloris on Saturday afternoon.

The Lilywhites will host Alan Pardew’s struggling Eagles side at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon as Tottenham look to make a return to winning ways.

Tottenham started the Premier League campaign with a draw after Argentina international Erik Lamela cancelled out Ross Barkley’s opener at Goodison Park.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have failed to win their last five Premier League games which has been carried over from the 2015/16 top-flight campaign.

Former Liverpool and Republic of Ireland defender Lawrenson is confident that Spurs will ease to victory over Palace in Saturday’s London derby at White Hart Lane.

“Tottenham did not start well but came back to draw at Everton, while Crystal Palace could not score at home and were beaten by West Brom,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.

Tottenham are without injured goalkeeper Hugo Lloris but I do not see that being a problem here while the Eagles are seeking a new striker.

It looks like they will get Liverpool’s Christian Benteke or the Baggies’ Saido Berahino. Who would I take? Well, the way Palace play, it would probably be Benteke, who is close to joining them after the Eagles agreed to pay £27m for the player.

Tottenham pushed Leicester City in the Premier League title race last season before a four-game winless run to end the campaign saw the Foxes ease away from the north London side.
