Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Why this Man United star will help me

Zlatan Ibrahimovic gushes with praise for Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney

Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes that Wayne Rooney will end up being his perfect strike partner at Manchester United next season.

The Swedish striker is currently gearing up for his first season at Old Trafford after joining the club earlier in the summer on a free transfer.

Ibrahimovic scored his first goal for the club in United’s 5-2 pre-season win over Galatasaray last weekend.

The veteran forward is preparing for his first taste of the Premier League as he gets to grips with life at Old Trafford.

And the 34-year-old forward admits that he is thrilled about the prospect of linking up with Rooney on a regular basis at Old Trafford.

Speaking in an interview with MUTV, Ibrahimovic said: “I think every big player can work with other big players.

“That’s not a problem. We are 11 players not two players on the pitch. It’s up to the coach what he wants but, with him, I see no problems. Only success.

“I said many years ago the perfect partner for a striker is Wayne Rooney. He works not only for himself but for the striker and the whole team.

“I’m absolutely happy to be one of the guys beside him.”

Ibrahimovic and Rooney will be hoping to feature when Manchester United take on Leicester City in the Community Shield at Wembley this weekend.
