Andy Cole’s one-word response when asked if Arsenal will win Premier League title

The former Manchester United striker rubbishes talk of Arsenal winning the Premier League title

Andy Cole has poured cold water on talk of Arsenal winning the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners finished in second place in the Premier League table last season but 10 points behind surprise champions Leicester City.

Arsene Wenger signed five players in the summer transfer window as the Arsenal manager looks to end his 12-year wait to win the Premier League title.

Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka moved to the Gunners in a £33m deal from Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach before Lucas Perez completed a £17m transfer to the Emirates Stadium last month.

The Arsenal boss has also added versatile Germany defender Shkodran Mustafi to the north London club in a £35m transfer from La Liga side Valencia.

Former United striker Cole has played down Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League title despite their summer acquisitions.

“Arsenal’s best chance of winning the Premier League was last season. Will they win it this season? No,” said Cole speaking exclusively to 888Sport.

“They will be involved in the mix but the more people or experts who say Arsenal need this player or that player then Arsene decides he doesn’t need them. Arsenal might have missed the boat.”

Arsenal won their first Premier League game at Watford before the international break as Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez all scored at Vicarage Road.
