Erik Lamela replaced the France international in the second half of Tottenham’s 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Sissoko’s substitution was as a result of a head injury as Mauricio Pochettino looked to take a precaution with his big-money summer signing ahead of their mid-week trip to Russia.
Tottenham will take on CSKA Moscow knowing that a victory would boost their chances of reaching the knockout stage after a 2-1 loss to Ligue 1 side Monaco at Wembley in their Champions League opener.
The £30m midfielder attempted to play down concerns over his suspected concussion with an Instagram update on Sunday night.
Sissoko posted the above photo and wrote the following caption:
“Thank you all for your messages, everything is fine ! #COYS”
The French star moved to Tottenham in a £30m deal from Championship side Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.
Spurs are unbeaten in the Premier League after six games.
