The north London side recorded their third successive Premier League victory thanks to Son Heung-min’s double in the opening 23 minutes at the Riverside Stadium.
Middlesbrough halved the deficit through Ben Gibson but the Lilywhites held on to secure three points which leaves Mauricio Pochettino’s side in second place in the Premier League table.
Erik Lamela replaced Sissoko in the 70th minute as Pochettino looked to see out the Premier League victory against the promoted side.
The France midfielder snapped a selfie with his Tottenham team-mates on their flight back to the English capital following Saturday’s 2-1 victory.
Sissoko posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:

Tottenham have already beaten Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Crystal Palace in the Premier League this term.
Spurs dropped points in stalemates with Merseyside duo Everton and Liverpool.
