Alex Iwobi has admitted that he has taken inspiration from Hector Bellerin’s rise through the ranks into the Arsenal first team.
The Arsenal midfielder has earned plenty of new admirers since breaking into the first team under Arsene Wenger in the second part of last season.
Iwobi has continued his strong form this term and has been a regular fixture in the starting line-up for the north London club.
A product of the Arsenal youth system, midfielder Iwobi looks to have an incredibly bright future at The Emirates in the seasons to come.
And the youngster has revealed how Bellerin’s impressive form has been a source of inspiration for him in recent games.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Iwobi said: “I was looking at Hector [Bellerin] because he was someone who was near enough my age.
“I was looking at the way he did it and I thought maybe I’d have to go out on loan to get experience like he did.
“I looked up to a few guys and I wanted to do it like them but the fact I did it a different way, I’m proud of that.”
Both Iwobi and Bellerin will be hoping to feature for Arsenal when the Gunners return to Champions League action on Wednesday night with a home clash against Ludogorets at The Emirates.
