Alex Iwobi tips this Arsenal star to shine under Arsene Wenger

The Arsenal midfielder believes Chuba Akpom has a bright future at The Emirates

Alex Iwobi has backed Chuba Akpom to become the next Arsenal player to break into Arsene Wenger’s starting line-up.

The Nigeria international has been one of the surprise packages at the Emirates Stadium over the past 12 months after having managed to impress in the Arsenal first-team.

Iwobi scored two goals in 21 appearances in all competitions for the north London side last term, including a memorable performance in Arsenal’s 3-1 loss to Barcelona in the Champions League at the Camp Nou.

The 20-year-old has carried his form into the 2016-17 campaign and has made three assists in five Premier League appearances.

Iwobi scored his first international goal in Nigeria’s 2-1 win against Zambia on Sunday night before returning to the English capital.

And the Arsenal midfielder has tipped his best friend Akpom to be the next youth prospect to break into Wenger’s first-team plans.

“You never know when it is your time. I’d say Chuba Akpom to come through next,” Iwobi told FourFourTwo during a question-and-answer session on Twitter.

Arsenal are in third place in the Premier League table and two points behind leaders Manchester City.
