Antoine Griezmann: What Man United must do to get best out of Paul Pogba
The Atletico Madrid striker explains what Paul Pogba needs to flourish at Manchester United
Antoine Griezmann says Manchester United need to show Paul Pogba “affection”.
The France midfielder has struggled since his world-record £89m move to the Red Devils from Serie A giants Juventus in the summer transfer window following months of speculation.
Pogba impressed on his second United debut as Jose Mourinho’s side eased to a 2-0 win against Southampton at Old Trafford in August.
The 23-year-old’s best performance came in a 4-1 win against reigning Premier League champions Leicester City as the world-record midfielder scored his first United goal at Old Trafford.
However, Pogba has otherwise struggled to justify his price tag in a United shirt so far alongside Marouane Fellaini or Ander Herrera in Mourinho’s struggling midfield.
His France team-mate Griezmann offered the 20-time English champions some advice on how to get the best out of their record signing ahead of United’s trip to to bitter rivals Liverpool in their next Premier League game on Monday 17 October.
“Paul needs affection. He tries to do his best, give everything,” Griezmann is quoted as saying by Manchester Evening News.
United are in sixth place in the Premier League table.
