Arsenal legend: This new Tottenham signing has been sensational

The Arsenal legend heaps praise on Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama

Alan Smith has hailed Victor Wanyama as a “sensational” Tottenham Hotspur signing.

The Kenya international moved to the north London club in an £11m deal from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer transfer window.

While Wanyama is a defensive midfielder, the African opened his Tottenham account with the winner in a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane in August.

The former Celtic man has started all eight of Tottenham’s Premier League games so far this season, whilst he has also featured in two of their three Champions League outings.

Former Arsenal striker Smith has been very impressed with Wanyama’s seamless transition into Mauricio Pochettino’s starting line-up since his summer move to White Hart Lane.

“He has been a sensational signing. It is early in the season but the way he has slotted in there. He is so powerful,” Smith told Sky Sports.

Tottenham signed five players in the summer transfer window, including African defensive midfielder Wanyama.

The north London side finished in third place in the Premier League table last season behind Leicester City and Arsenal.

Spurs played out a goalless draw with Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday night.
