Arsenal legend: Why Antonio Conte will be chuffed with Chelsea

Charlie Nicholas explains why Antonio Conte will be pleased with Chelsea's 2-0 win at Hull City

Charlie Nicholas believes Antonio Conte will be very happy with Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Hull City at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues ended a three-game winless run in the Premier League thanks to goals from Diego Costa and Willian in the second half of their 2-0 win against Mike Phelan’s side.

Chelsea hoisted themselves up to seventh place in the Premier League table after collecting 13 points from their opening seven games under new manager Conte.

Former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas believes Conte will be very happy with Chelsea’s Premier League win at Hull after a difficult run of results for the west London side.

“Antonio Conte will be chuffed to bits,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.

“Diego Costa got back on the goal trail, Willian also scored a really nice goal, but they didn’t play well so that’s why they miss out on a B.

“They looked clinical and it’s a case of take the clean sheet, the three points and move on because there are still issues at Chelsea.”

Chelsea won their opening three Premier League games under Conte following victories over West Ham United, Watford and Burnley.

However, the Blues dropped their first points of the season in a 2-2 draw with Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium last month.

And Chelsea then lost 2-1 to top-four rivals Liverpool at Stamford Bridge before a 3-0 loss to fellow Londoners Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
