Charlie Nicholas states his prediction for Arsenal v Ludogorets
Charlie Nicholas looks ahead to Arsenal's clash with Ludogorets in the Champions League on Wednesday night
Charlie Nicholas is backing Arsenal to coast to a 4-0 victory over Ludogorets in their Champions League clash at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Gunners head into the game looking to continue their fine start to the new campaign.
Arsene Wenger watched his side notch up their sixth Premier League victory in a row on Saturday afternoon as they sealed a 3-2 win over Swansea City at The Emirates.
That result left Wenger’s side second in the Premier League table and level on points with leaders Manchester City after eight games.
Arsenal have taken four points from their opening two Premier League games after following up their 1-1 draw at PSG with a 2-0 victory over Basel last time out.
Former Arsenal star Nicholas is not expecting the Gunners to run into any problems against Ludogorets on Wednesday night.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Nicholas said: “I think the feeling in the team is that there’s a little bit more steel about Arsenal after those hard-fought wins against Burnley and Swansea. It doesn’t always have be spectacular and the momentum keeps building.
“They’ve shown an ability to dig in a bit, even though there’s still a defensive vulnerability, to win games where they might have previously dropped points.
“Where Arsenal are really strong is when Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott run beyond Alexis Sanchez and take defenders into areas where they’re not really comfortable.
“Matchday three always seems to be a pretty uncomfortable one for Arsenal, though. It’s often been when they tend to get the strongest sides in the group and it’s make-or-break, but I’m expecting a comfortable night in the Soccer Special studio, with just a win or two probably needed to make qualification certain.”
Arsenal finished second in the Premier League table last season.
