Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Arsenal v Swansea
Mark Lawrenson looks ahead to Arsenal's clash with Swansea City in the Premier League on Saturday
Mark Lawrenson is tipping Arsenal to ease to a 2-0 victory over Swansea City in their Premier League clash at Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The north London side head into the game looking to make it six wins in a row in the Premier League after a solid run of games from Arsene Wenger’s men.
Arsenal were 1-0 winners at Burnley before the international break as they kept up the pressure on Premier League leaders Manchester City to leave them third in the table and two points off top spot.
The Gunners are aiming to string together another set of positive results before the final international break of the year next month.
And former Liverpool man Lawrenson is expecting Arsenal to get the job done against the Swans this weekend.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “I am expecting an energetic performance from Swansea’s players in Bob Bradley’s first game in charge.
“It sounds like Bradley was very convincing in his interview but I still see his appointment as a gamble.
“The Emirates Stadium is obviously a difficult place for Bradley to get started, especially against an Arsenal team who have won their last five league games and are on a great run of form.
“The Gunners did not start the season very well but most of their players who were at the European Championship are back available now, and Aaron Ramsey is not far off a return either after being injured in the first game of the new campaign.
“One of the things this Arsenal side has got is competition for places in every position and the fact their players are fighting for their place is definitely helping them at the moment.”
Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table and without a trophy last season.
The Gunners have not won the Premier League since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 season.
