Arsene Wenger admits he is disappointed by Aaron Ramsey's extended spell on the Arsenal sidelines
Arsene Wenger has revealed his disappointment at Aaron Ramsey’s current spell on the Arsenal sidelines.
The Wales international has not featured for the north London club since picking up an injury in the opening Premier League game of the season against Liverpool back in August.
It had been thought that Ramsey was closing in on a comeback for the Gunners but Wenger confirmed on Thursday that the midfielder is set to remain sidelined for Arsenal’s coming games to make sure that he will be fully fit when he does return.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Swansea this weekend, Wenger said: “Ramsey will not be available.
“I’m disappointed because he has worked very hard and he had a few little setbacks that forced us to be cautious with him. He’s on the last stage, he’s building up his fitness.
“Next week will come too early. We have decided that we will give him a complete pre-season now, even if he misses more games.”
Arsenal head into the game on the back of their 1-0 win over Burnley before the international break and in third place in the Premier League table, two points behind early leaders Manchester City.
The north London side finished second in the table and without a trophy last season.
