Arsene Wenger hints Arsenal star will return to action next week

Olivier Giroud could be set to make his return to action for Arsenal against Reading next week

Arsene Wenger has hinted that Olivier Giroud could return to action for Arsenal in Tuesday night’s League Cup clash with Reading.

The striker has been out of action since the 3-0 win over Chelsea back in September but was pictured in training at London Colney last week.

Giroud was not involved during Arsenal’s goalless draw with Middlesbrough in the Premier League at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon but the French striker is now closing in on a comeback for the Gunners.

And speaking after Saturday’s goalless draw, Wenger hinted that Giroud could be involved in the League Cup fourth-round tie in north London next week.

Speaking at his post-match news conference, Wenger said: “Giroud could be in the squad on Tuesday night.

“We have a game on Tuesday night here, so maybe he will be available to be in the squad on Tuesday.”

Arsenal’s draw with Middlesbrough lifted them to the top of the Premier League table ahead of Manchester City, who play Southampton at home on Sunday.
