Arsene Wenger reveals these two Arsenal players are raising each other up

Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are both stepping their game up this season, according to Arsene Wenger

Arsene Wenger believes that Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been raising each other’s game this season at Arsenal.

Walcott has earned plenty of praise for his strong start to the new season, having already scored eight goals in all competitions for Wenger’s men to stake his claim for a regular starting spot in the side.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, meanwhile, has found his first-team opportunities at Arsenal somewhat restricted this term but he scored both goals in the 2-0 League Cup fourth-round win over Reading at The Emirates on Tuesday night.

Both England internationals will be hoping to hold down regular spots in the Arsenal first team in the coming weeks as they bid to rediscover their best form at the club.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has spoken recently about his desire to break back into the first team and be a regular fixture in the starting line-up.

And speaking after Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Reading, Wenger said that the midfielder is not far away from earning that spot.

Wenger is quoted as saying by Arsenal’s website: “They [Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain] are lifting each other but they can also play on both flanks.”

He continued: “He [Oxlade-Chamberlain] is not a long way away from the starting XI because he played against Ludogorets, he played here which was expected, but Ludogorets was a very important game. He came on against Middlesbrough on Saturday and I feel that he is regularly involved.”
