Arsene Wenger has told Mesut Ozil that he should be scoring more often for Arsenal.

The Germany playmaker netted Arsenal’s third goal of the game as the Gunners secured a 3-2 win over Swansea City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon at The Emirates.

Ozil has been known for laying on assists for his team-mates since his arrival in the Premier League from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013.

However, the World Cup winner has shown good form in front of goal this term too, scoring three goals in the top flight for the Gunners.

And Wenger wants to see Ozil find the net more often for the north London club in the games to come.

Speaking in an interview with Arsenal Player, Wenger said: “Mesut has that in the locker you know.

“When you see him finish like that, you think ‘Come on my friend – do it more often!’ because in training he scores, it’s very difficult to read for the keepers and he scores when he wants.

“And we want him to take more opportunities. There was an opportunity in the first half where he didn’t even hit the ball well and after he scores a fantastic goal.

“I think it’s coming. It’s coming and I hope these kind of goals give him the taste to do more. He has celebrated his birthday in a great way today.”

Ozil’s next chance to find the net is likely to come when Arsenal host Ludogorets in their next Champions League game at The Emirates on Monday night.
