Paul Merson states prediction for Bournemouth v Tottenham

The Arsenal legend believes Tottenham Hotspur could drop points at Bournemouth

Paul Merson is tipping Tottenham Hotspur to drop points at Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.

The north London side are the only unbeaten Premier League club remaining in the 2016-17 season after a run of five victories and three draws.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were 2-0 winners against leaders Manchester City earlier this month before a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion last time out.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, were 6-1 winners against Hull City in the Premier League last weekend in what was an impressive performance from Eddie Howe’s side.

And former Arsenal midfielder Merson believes the Cherries could spring a surprise against Tottenham on Saturday as the Lilywhites switch their focus back to the Premier League after a goalless draw in Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

“Bournemouth are playing very well, I watched them last week. Spurs had a tough game in midweek and it might catch up with them for the early Saturday kick-off. I know they got beaten 5-1 last year, but it will be different for Bournemouth,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“I’ve been impressed with Spurs, even when they don’t play well they get a result. They’re undefeated, and when they go 1-0 down late on against West Brom, they fight back for a result.

“But I can see a draw here, which would be a superb result for an ever-improving Bournemouth side under Eddie Howe.”

Tottenham are in third place in the Premier League table and a point behind leaders Manchester City after eight games.
