The Champions League returns this week as each of Europe’s elite clubs reach the midway point of the group stage and will give us a much clearer picutre of who is going to progress and who isn’t.

Here are our betting tips for four big games from this week’s matches.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Tottenham Hotspur

Three points separate top to bottom in this group and Tottenham would probably take a point from this game if you offered it to them pre-game. The Premier League side are second, one point ahead of the Bundesliga outfit and head into the match as the bookmakers’ underdogs.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 before the international break but that was followed up with a 2-1 loss at Werder Bremen this past weekend. Whilst Spurs were held at West Brom Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been in fine form of late and are capable of taking points from this match.

Has the making of a good end-to-end battle but we don’t see Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Hugo Lloris and co coming out of this match with their heads down.

Best bet: Lay Bayer Leverkusen at 2.24

Sporting Lisbon vs Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund have taken just one point from their last two league games following Friday’s disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Hertha Berlin in which they missed a late penalty.

However, Thomas Tuchel’s side have made an impressive start in Europe, including a point at home to Real Madrid. They may consider themselves a genuine threat to the Spanish giants in winning this group in which they’ll need three points from this game, which is their last tough fixture on paper before a trip to the Bernabeu.

The German giants have a very dangerous attack with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ousmane Dembele and Mario Gotze. Raphael Guerreiro has been an excellent addition supporting from left-back too. I think Borussia Dortmund will be too much for Sporting on Tuesday.

Barceona vs Manchester City

The most-anticipated match of the week sees Pep Guardiola travel to take on his former-club Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

Manchester City’s flying start to the Premier League came to an end with a 2-0 loss at Tottenham Hotspur before the international break and were then held 1-1 by Everton Saturday. Barcelona themselves had a couple of rough results before thrashing Deportivo 4-0 on Saturday themselves.

Strengths of both teams are in attack and hopefully we’ll see a shoot out between these two on Wednesday.

Best bet: Over 3.5 goals is 2.16

Bayern Munich vs PSV Eindhoven

Losing at Atletico Madrid has hindered Bayern Munich’s chances of winning their group and nothing less than a win versus PSV Eindhoven will do on Wednesday.

The German Bundesliga league leaders have the players capable of handing a thrashing to the Dutch champions who have made a slightly disappointing start to their title defence and have only taken one point from their opening two Champions League matches.

Thomas Muller, Douglas Costa, Robert Lewandowski and co should have no problem putting a few past PSV.

Best bet: Bayern Munich to win -1.5 is 1.5
