Charlie Nicholas makes Tottenham admission after Man City win
The Arsenal legend believes Tottenham Hotspur will finish in the top four
Charlie Nicholas admits he has revised his prediction for Tottenham Hotspur this season.
The Lilywhites were impressive 2-0 winners against Manchester City at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon as the north Londoners inflicted a first Premier League defeat upon Pep Guardiola.
Serbia international Aleksandar Kolarov’s miscued clearance beat City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo in the ninth minute before Dele Alli netted his first Premier League of the season seven minutes before half-time.
Tottenham are the only Premier League club to remain unbeaten in their opening seven games and Mauricio Pochettino’s side have the best defensive record in the division after conceding just three times.
Former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas believes Tottenham will finish in fourth place in the table after previously tipping the Lilywhites to miss out on a Champions League place.
“I’ve changed my mind on Spurs, who do look like a top-four side. Reassessing the situation now, I would probably go Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs in fourth,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“Mauricio Pochettino’s side have crashed the idea Man City were marching to the title. Every system is vulnerable and Tottenham showed you can still play on the front foot against Guardiola’s team.”
Tottenham finished in third place in the Premier League table last season behind champions Leicester City and Arsenal.
Pochettino made three big-money signings in the summer transfer window after snapping up Moussa Sissoko, Vincent Janssen and Victor Wanyama.
