Chelsea midfielder reveals how players have responded to Antonio Conte
John Obi Mikel discusses the impact that Antonio Conte has had at Chelsea so far this season
John Obi Mikel has revealed that Chelsea’s players have already responded very well to Antonio Conte’s coaching methods.
The Italian was brought in as Jose Mourinho’s permanent successor at Stamford Bridge earlier this year following the Portuguese coach’s sacking back in December of last year.
Chelsea have made a somewhat mixed start to life under their new manager in the Premier League, losing successive Premier League games to Liverpool and Arsenal after a strong opening few games.
However, the Blues returned to winning ways before the international break with a 2-0 win at Hull City and now turn their attentions towards their clash with Leicester City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday lunchtime.
And Mikel has been impressed by what he has seen from the new Chelsea boss so far this season.
Speaking in an interview with Goal, Mikel said: “The players have responded very well to him, we are going with whatever the manager wants to do in training, everyone is putting in their best and we have to keep going his way.”
Chelsea finished 10th and without a trophy last term in what was a season to forget for the west London club. The Blues had won the Premier League and League Cup under Mourinho the season before.
