Chris Sutton makes claim about Liverpool and Arsenal in the title race

Chris Sutton says Liverpool and Arsenal should take encouragement from Tottenham's win over Manchester City

Chris Sutton has claimed that both Liverpool and Arsenal will take heart from Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Manchester City last weekend.

The Lilywhites produced an impressive performance as Mauricio Pochettino’s men secured the three points against the Premier League leaders to become the first team to beat the Citizens this season.

The result left Spurs in second place and just a point behind Pep Guardiola’s men after seven games of the new season.

Arsenal and Liverpool are close behind in the table and are both just two points behind the leaders as the Premier League title race begins to gather momentum.

City had looked to be unbeatable heading into last Sunday’s game, having won all six of their opening Premier League matches.

However, Sutton now believes that the result at White Hart Lane has proven that City are more vulnerable than first thought – and that Arsenal and Liverpool can capitalise.

Speaking in an interview with The Daily Mail, Sutton said: “The likes of Liverpool and Arsenal will know that if they are courageous enough, they have a chance [against City].

“Pep will know what’s coming. I don’t think he will change the way City play but they have to be better on the ball.

“Defensively they take risks and can be exposed. But I still think they will win the title. Pep has come over here to win the Premier League and the Champions League. City have still made an unbelievable start and the manager won’t be panicking.”
