Chris Sutton: Why I worry about new Tottenham signing
Moussa Sissoko needs to produce consistently for Tottenham over the course of the season, warns Chris Sutton
Chris Sutton has expressed his concerns that Moussa Sissoko will struggle to consistently produce over the course of the 2016-17 Premier League season.
The France international moved to Tottenham in a £30m deal from Championship side Newcastle United in the latter stages of the summer transfer window.
Sissoko was the most expensive of Mauricio Pochettino’s new signings as the Spurs boss bolstered his midfield options ahead of the 2016-17 campaign.
The 27-year-old midfielder has made five appearances for the north London side so far and the pick of those performances came on Sunday afternoon.
The French midfielder was impressive as Pochettino’s side were emphatic 2-0 winners against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham are only a point behind the Premier League leaders ahead of their next game against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday 15 October.
“I wonder whether they are going to get it from Sissoko. He downed tools at Newcastle last year but Tottenham need him to replicate his fine performance against City all season,” Sutton told The Daily Mail.
Tottenham are the only unbeaten club still unbeaten in the Premier League this season after five victories and two stalemates.
Spurs finished in third place in the top-flight table last term.
