Christian Eriksen sends blunt warning to Tottenham’s title rivals ahead of Liverpool clash
Christian Eriksen delivers his verdict on Tottenham Hotspur's strong start to the new Premier League season
Christian Eriksen has warned Tottenham’s title rivals that their win over Manchester City proves that Spurs have no weak links, as clashes against Liverpool and Arsenal loom large.
The north London side have made a strong start to the new season and have underlined their status as genuine title contenders in recent weeks with a string of impressive performances.
Spurs became the first team to beat Manchester City in the Premier League this season as they secured a 2-0 win over the Citizens at White Hart Lane last weekend.
That result left the Lilywhites in second place in the Premier League table and just one point behind Pep Guardiola’s leaders.
Tottenham will take on Liverpool and Arsenal in the next month as the Premier League games begin to come thick and fast.
But playmaker Eriksen says the mood in the Spurs camp is more confident than ever after their impressive victory over the Premier League leaders.
Eriksen is quoted as saying by The Daily Express: “Everyone wants to play, everyone wants to win. We’ve got a very, very strong team and, even if we rotate a few players, the new ones will come in and fill the spots perfectly.
“Every player who comes in can play in different positions too. Sonny, for example, can play as a striker as well.
“He’s a different type to Harry Kane or Vincent Janssen so he filled in differently (against City) but it was the perfect mix on Sunday because City dropped a lot and there was a lot of space to run in between.
“At the moment there are no weak links and the result is that it only makes us stronger.”
Tottenham return to Premier League action with a trip to West Brom after the international break.
