Clive Allen delivers glowing verdict on Tottenham striker
The former Tottenham striker heaps praise on South Korea international Son Heung-min
Clive Allen has hailed Son Heung-min’s performances in the absence of injured Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.
The South Korea international made his first start of the 2016-17 Premier League campaign in a 4-0 victory over Stoke City as Son scored twice at the Britannia Stadium.
The 24-year-old netted another double in the north London side’s 2-1 victory over promoted outfit Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium to keep Tottenham on course for a title challenge.
Son played a key part in Tottenham’s first Champions League win of the campaign after the former Bayer Leverkusen striker netted their winner in a 1-0 victory over CSKA Moscow in Russia.
While the Mauricio Pochettino signing didn’t get on the score sheet against Manchester City, Son teed up Dele Alli for Tottenham’s second goal in a 2-0 victory over Pep Guardiola’s men.
Former Tottenham striker Allen has been impressed with Son’s performances for Pochettino’s side in recent weeks.
“I think Son looks really confident and comfortable within the group at the moment and his goalscoring is showing that he’s a taker of chances,” Allen told Tottenham’s website.
“That’s good news because with the unfortunate injury to Harry Kane, we needed someone to take on the mantle of scoring consistently.
“Son is really positive in the positions he’s getting into and then when the chances are being created, he’s been very clinical.”
Son moved to Tottenham in a £21m deal from Bayer Leverkusen in the 2015 summer transfer window.
