Michael Owen states his prediction for Crystal Palace v Liverpool
Michael Owen looks ahead to Liverpool's trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday evening
Michael Owen is tipping Liverpool to claim all three points when they travel to Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
The Reds have been in fine form in recent weeks and continued their winning run by beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.
Liverpool were 2-1 winners over West Brom in their most recent Premier League outing last weekend at Anfield.
That result left Jurgen Klopp’s men level on points with leaders Manchester City after nine games of the new season.
And despite Owen expecting Liverpool to be tested by Palace this weekend, he is tipping his former employers to take all three points.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, retired striker Owen said: “Christian Benteke is sure to get a warm reception from the travelling Liverpool supporters and it should be remembered it was only back in May when he scored the winning goal in the last minute for 10-man Liverpool in the corresponding fixture last season against Palace at Selhurst Park.
“The Eagles haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 14 Premier League games and I think there will be goals; my heart says Liverpool will shade it but my head says there will be goals at both ends of the pitch.”
Liverpool ended up in eighth place and without a trophy last season under Klopp despite the German guiding the Reds to the League Cup and Europa League finals.
