Emre Can delivers verdict on new Liverpool signing in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield
The Liverpool midfielder has been been impressed with how Georginio Wijnaldum has adjusted to life at Anfield
Emre Can has admitted that he has been impressed with how Liverpool summer singing Georginio Wijnaldum has already built up a strong understanding with Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds side are being talked up as potential Premier League title contenders after a run of four successive top-flight victories to leave the Merseyside outfit in fourth place.
The 18-time English champions have already beaten London duo Arsenal and Chelsea as well as Premier League holders Leicester City in the top flight this term – scoring 10 goals.
Wijnaldum has been a mainstay of Klopp’s starting line-up in the absence of injured Can before the Germany international recovered from an ankle injury in recent weeks.
And the former Bayer Leverkusen man heaped praise on Klopp’s midfield axis of Henderson, Lallana and Wijnaldum as Can looks to win back his place in the Liverpool first-team.
“I see it and it works very well,” Can told Liverpool’s website.
“You could see that in the last few games.
“Gini, Henderson and Lallana did very well and played good football. We have to continue that. If you look at the bench, we have a very, very strong bench and a very strong squad.”
Liverpool will host bitter rivals Manchester United in their next Premier League game at Anfield on Monday 17 October.
