Emre Can plays down threat of new Man United signings ahead of Liverpool trip
Emre Can says Liverpool are equipped to deal with the threats of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba
Emre Can has played down the threat of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba for Manchester United ahead of Monday’s crunch clash with Liverpool at Anfield.
The Swedish striker has made a strong start to life at United after having scored six goals so far for Jose Mourinho’s men since his arrival on a free transfer.
Pogba is still finding his feet at Old Trafford following his big-money move back to the club but opened his Premier League account for United by scoring in the 4-1 win over Leicester last month.
United head into Monday’s game looking to return to winning ways after their 1-1 draw against Stoke City before the international break.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are bidding to keep up their good recent form after their 2-1 comeback win at Swansea in their most recent outing.
And although Can acknowledges the threat posed by Ibrahimovic and Pogba, he feels Liverpool are more than equipped to deal with the Manchester United new boys at Anfield.
Speaking in an interview with Liverpool’s website, Can said: “We are confident about matching that, we have a very strong squad.
“They [Ibrahimovic and Pogba] are both very good players, we know that, but we have bought very good players as well. We are confident enough and we want to win the game.”
