ESPN pundit questions new Tottenham signing

Shaka Hislop says Vincent Janssen still has plenty to prove at Tottenham Hotspur this season

Vincent Janssen still has plenty to prove at Tottenham Hotspur, according to former goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.

The striker was brought to White Hart Lane by Mauricio Pochettino in the summer transfer window from AZ Almkaar to relieve some of the pressure on first-choice forward Harry Kane this season.

However, the 22-year-old is yet to score a Premier League goal for the Lilywhites after featuring in all seven of Tottenham’s game so far this term.

Janssen opened his Spurs account with a goal in the 5-0 League Cup victory over Gillingham but has not been able to get off the mark in the top flight, despite filling in for the injured Kane in recent weeks.

And Hislop has admitted that he is yet to be convinced by the new Tottenham signing after watching him in action this season.

Asked whether Janssen has been a hit or miss, Hislop told ESPN: “He goes in the miss column as well.

“Janssen came in with a lot of accolades, and he was given an opportunity due to the injury of Harry Kane, but every time I see him I’ve not been all that convinced. He goes down as a miss…so far.”
