Former Man United striker delivers verdict on Liverpool midfielder

Alan Brazil has heaped praise on Liverpool vice-captain James Milner after a strong start to the season

Alan Brazil says Liverpool can rely on James Milner after the versatile midfielder’s impressive start to the 2016-17 Premier League season.

The 30-year-old has been played in an unorthodox left-back role in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side so far this term following Alberto Moreno’s erratic performance in a 4-3 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Milner scored Liverpool’s winner from the penalty spot at the Liberty Stadium to secure a 2-1 win against Swansea City on Saturday afternoon after Roberto Firmino cancelled out Leroy Fer’s opener in the Premier League clash.

The former Manchester City midfielder has already scored four goals from the spot this season having netted penalties against Tottenham Hotspur and Hull City.

Former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur forward Brazil summarised Milner as a player following the Liverpool vice-captain’s fourth goal of the Premier League season.

“Is he my favourite player? No. He is a bread and butter player. But you can rely on him,” Brazil told his own podcast – Alan Brazil Up Front.

Milner moved to Liverpool on a free transfer from Manchester City under Jurgen Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers.
