Frank Lampard: This is why Paul Pogba has been struggling at Man United
Frank Lampard has his say on Paul Pogba's start to life at Manchester United this season
Frank Lampard believes that Paul Pogba’s biggest challenge at Manchester United will be living up to his huge price tag.
The France midfielder has made a mixed start to life at Old Trafford since returning to the club from Juventus in the summer transfer window for a world-record fee.
Pogba was named the man of the match as he scored twice in United’s 4-1 Europa League win over Fenerbahce at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
Many Manchester United fans will agree that the midfielder is yet to prove his worth to the Old Trafford outfit following his move to the club.
However, former Chelsea star Lampard feels that Pobga simply requires time to get used to his new role in the Manchester United team.
Speaking in an interview with The Sun before Sunday’s clash with Chelsea, Pogba said: “It’s been a slow start for Pogba.
“The difficult thing is everyone looks at the price tag and everything which goes with it.
“Then you go back to basics and look at what kind of player he is.
“He isn’t a Lionel Messi — a dribbler or a 40- goals-a-season man.
“He’s someone who can be the engine room of the team.”
Pogba was sold to Juventus in the summer of 2012 after being deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford by former boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
