Gary Lineker delivers glowing verdict on Man United star

The Tottenham legend was impressed with the Manchester United goalkeeper on Monday night

Gary Lineker lavished praise on David De Gea after the Manchester United goalkeeper’s imperious performance in a goalless draw at Liverpool on Monday night.

The Spain international was on hand to deny Jurgen Klopp’s side on the rare moments when Liverpool managed to navigate a way past Jose Mourinho’s well-drilled defence.

De Gea, who was at fault for Stoke City’s equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford before the international break, managed to get a strong hand to Emre Can’s low shot in the second half after the Germany international instinctively poked an effort goalwards.

United’s reigning player of the year produced an even better save minutes later when De Gea was alert to push Philippe Coutinho’s powerful effort wide as the Brazilian conjured a moment of magic in an attempt to break the deadlock for the hosts.

And Tottenham legend Lineker was left in no doubt about De Gea’s world-class talent in what was an otherwise disappointing affair at Anfield on Monday night.
